tax1099.com plugin error

quickbooks crash error

Welp, it’s that time of year again. sending out the 1099s. If you use Tax1099.com and use their low-budget plugin you might run into this error.

In order to install their plugin, you first need to remove last years version. I did this, then installed the new version. This caused QB to crash on opening. What surprised me though was uninstalling the plugin did not fix the problem. So i opened up the log to see what was going on.

UI_sdk_tax1099come1612181843.SYS

Here is the error I found in the log.

CHECKPOINT: 24368: Wed Jan 26 23:23:10 ,_QBDeleteFile, Original,”C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 2020\Components\RegisteredUI\UI_sdk_tax1099come1612181843.SYS”,Redirected ,”C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 2020\Components\RegisteredUI\UI_sdk_tax1099come1612181843.SYS” ,, , source, src\oapersui.c,line, 936, Error:5

So the problem is clearly the tax1099 plugin. What surprised me though was that this file was around after the uninstall process. This appears to be a legacy file from last year’s plugin that was not properly uninstalled

Quickbooks crashing fixed

Go to the correct path on your computer to find UI_sdk_tax1099 file. C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks 2020\Components\RegisteredUI\

Look at the install date. That is from last tax season. Delete that little fucker. You can now install the tax1099.com 2021 plugin.
